Network Specialist – Hybrid role
DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated individual to join our team.
The Network Specialist is responsible for the design, building and implementation of network systems across the enterprise. This includes planning (including roadmaps), installing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all local/cloud, wireless and wide area network connections, associated software, security rules and communications links. Troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. Accountable to ensure that all production systems are working at optimal levels, 100% uptime and highly secure based on industry best practices.
Provides support to other ITSS portfolios regarding new technologies and system requirements in order to ensure strategic investment in technology infrastructure. Perform network and security product evaluation and makes recommendations to ensure optimal network performance and resiliency, ensures the network security infrastructure is standardized and compliant to industry security standards in order to meet company and user goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and administer network infrastructure on-premise and cloud (Azure, AWS) including all network firewalls, network switches, routers, IDS/IDP appliances, VPN appliances, WiFi access points, and physical cabling.
- Manage and administer IP Address space & assignments, OSF/BGP routing, communication links (voice and data), firewall rules, IPSec/SSL Tunnels, VLANs, etc.
- Monitor, assess and act upon security advisories and vulnerabilities to mitigate exposure to risk.
- Monitor and analyze network performance; making optimization recommendations as appropriate.
- Diagnose, isolate and resolve all network related support requests and incidents that impact availability, security and/or performance in accordance to assessed severity, service level agreements and turnaround targets.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date system and network documentation and diagrams.
- Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technology trends and best practices.
- Identify repetitive tasks and build tools and/or processes for automation.
- Provide guidance and knowledge to team members, and promote efficiency, productivity, innovations, and knowledge-sharing across team.
- Ensures change control and other processes and procedures are followed, and that configuration documentation is completed when systems are deployed or modified.
- Work closely with internal business partners to gather requirements, design and implement solutions, manage technical operations, and triage and resolve operational issues.
- Manage and coordinate support incidents with vendors.
- Assist in capacity planning
On-call support as well as onsite support during non-standard business hours when required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), CCND (Cisco Certified Network Designer) or CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) or CCIE a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in IP addressing and subnetting, routing protocols, VPN concepts, VLAN configuration and concepts, L2/L3 switching technologies.
- Minimum 5+ experience with Cisco routers, Switches, Firewalls, IPS, ISE network policy management, wide area network design and support including Site to Site VPN.
- Support, upgrade, and maintain systems such as Cisco/Checkpoint firewalls, SourceFire IPS, Wireless Controller and Cisco Meraki.
- Strong problem-solving skills is required in this role.
- Experience managing vendor-provided services including outsourcing arrangements.
- Experience working within a structured process methodology (i.e. ITIL).
