Why is this role important?

Job Overview:

The Market Strategy, Projects Market Division is responsible for managing strategic projects and initiatives that directly support Market Division’s strategic direction.  This challenging role works directly with many areas of the business and levels within the organization to execute projects and change in the Division

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage various projects through all stages of a typical project life cycle:
    • Scope project objectives, timelines & expectations with stakeholders
    • Create project plans, milestones & roadmaps from project initiation through to execution
    • Organize/lead project meetings and maintain accountability with working team
    • Actively engage key stakeholders throughout project: status updates, risks/issues, timelines, etc.
    • Manage project workstreams & teams to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and within budget
    • Develop solutions to project challenges, issues and conflicts; escalate to project sponsors as necessary
    • Work with our internal supporting functions to provide a comprehensive plan & execution
    • Identify and assess project risks and mitigation strategies; partner with various internal resources/SMEs as appropriate  
    • Direct, coordinate and/or manage implementation of solutions/changes (e.g., communication plans, education/training to staff on new roles/processes/functions, scorecarding, etc.)
    • Prepare presentation materials for internal working team & executive meetings
    • Ensure sustainable processes & outcomes after project completion
    • Conduct post-mortem analysis to determine learnings for subsequent projects
    • Drive continuous improvement on project methodology to ensure rigor and standardization across Market Division Projects team
  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with project stakeholders
    • Strong ethical compass in all business decision-making and interpersonal relationships
  • Support the development of Market Division’s strategic plan and other strategic presentations:
    • Work with executive team & internal stakeholders to develop the divisional strategic roadmap
    • Prepare presentations to executives outlining strategy and/or updating progress
  • Be a thought partner and offer non-biased and informed viewpoints that balances the needs & challenges of the business
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in planning, prioritizing and managing the project(s) portfolio
  • Be solutions oriented to resolve any issues which may impact successful/timely completion of projects
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment – a culture of positivity, curiosity, collaboration & transparency

Role Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years previous work experience; retail and/or merchandising experience strongly preferred
  • University degree or Post-secondary education  
  • Ability to effectively manage timelines to ensure delivery of project objectives
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions to those at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to conduct meetings and facilitate large group / cross-functional sessions with business partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and planning skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to be proactive and actively manage stakeholders, working teams and move forward quickly and independently.  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects involving multi-disciplinary teams operating in an innovation driven and ambiguous environment
  • Strong technical skills (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook)
