Senior Developer, Solutions Engineering, Toronto(Hybrid), ON

As a Senior Developer you will work alongside a team of self-motivated and well-respected team members building high-value analytical products and platforms. We are responsible for bringing modern enterprise systems to life and need your help to make it all happen. An excellent opportunity to grow your software engineering abilities while contributing to GCP solutions built the right way – clean code that is unit tested and pushed through complete CI/CD processes. We are looking for people that are passionate about what they do and want to progress their career as part of a forward-thinking team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the implementation of service-based architectures and optimized data processing systems using python. Work closely with frameworks and platforms like Spark, Airflow, Beam, Golang, Kubernetes, BigQuery, GitLab CI/CD, and Terraform.
  • Collaborate with team leads and business stakeholders across Loblaw Technology & Analytics practice and provide an input on technical achievability of problem being solved
  • Help define new development patterns, platforms, and tooling to enable rapid, repeatable delivery. Passionately work to improve the developer experience.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior developers.

What You Bring:

  • Software engineering experience using python or a compiled object-oriented language (Golang, java, C#), SQL and database design, CI/CD, Git and familiarity with SDLC concepts.
  • Experience working collaboratively to deliver a data-focused product.
  • Proven experience scaling data workloads using distributed compute (e.g., Spark, Apache Beam, Kubernetes) and exposing services via backend APIs.
  • Experience with a cloud environment (GCP, Azure, AWS), especially using distributed-compute resources (BigQuery, Spark, Redshift, HD Insight) and data processing tools (Apache Airflow/Beam, AWS Glue/Kinesis, Azure Data Factory).
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills with a self-motivated approach. Able to empathetically engage team members that require mentorship and support.
