Senior Manager, Customer Insights

Why is this role important?  

 

Loblaw Companies Limited is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Customer Insights to lead the market intelligence function in the Discount Division. This role will play a critical role in understanding the drivers of relative performance across the competitive landscape, generating insights, and partnering with our merchandising teams to develop and execute retail strategies and tactics. To be successful in the role, this individual will be a self-starter that is able to connect the dots across disparate data sets to generate cohesive conclusions and influence stakeholders to take action based on their insights that drive positive outcomes. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain predictive models that forecast retail performance across the Canadian marketplace
  • Conduct robust analyses to understand performance drivers, craft narratives for senior-level business leaders, and develop solutions
  • Proactively generate insights across the full breadth of food, health & beauty, and general merchandise categories to inform decisions
  • Partner with merchandising and promotional teams on ad-hoc analyses as required
  • Leverage external data (e.g. Statistics Canada, company filings) to improve the division’s understanding of competitive dynamics, industry trends, and new developments
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct report(s)

 

Does this sound like you?

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in customer insights, analytics, or merchandising roles
  • Relevant Bachelors degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Math, Engineering, Economics, Finance)
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities.  Demonstrated ability to build effective and trustful relationships across organizations
  • Confidence, maturity and credibility to interact with and present to senior-level business leaders
  • Business acumen in Retail, Food or Consumer Goods industries desirable
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Working knowledge of GCP and/or Teradata is an asset
