What is the role? 

The Senior Manager, EPG (Enterprise Procurement Group) Program Office & Supplier Engagement is a unique member of the team responsible for significant and broad indirect purchases for the enterprise.  Everything from store supplies management to IT partnerships to transport negotiations to marketing contracts, this team manages all indirect procurement for the enterprise.  The newly created Program Management and Supplier Engagement team is intended to add an element of structure and support to an already high-performance team. 

In addition, this role will have the opportunity to be part of building out and implementing a supplier engagement plan for the organization.  We have ambitious and important priorities to ensure our relationships with our suppliers are strong, positive and healthy.  This includes important management of key Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) goals for the enterprise that require our suppliers' input and support.   

This is clearly a unique and multi-faceted role.  As such, we are looking for a unique and multifaceted individual!  You could be a project manager professional looking to build out their communication skills.  You could be a change professional looking to flex your process analysis skills.  You could be a retail professional with years in consumer packaged goods companies that understand relationships between retailers and suppliers.  At the end of the day, you are problem solver looking to do “good work” and is excited to get to work! 

What will I do? 

  • Oversee the development of a new tracking tool for the buying team that combines project management and financial tracking. 
  • Parachute in and out of various projects as required based on status and challenges the initiative is encountering 
  • Deep dive into challenges faced by the team where opportunities to improve processes, communication and productivity are identified 
  • Support the governance and overall management of the supplier engagement plan including projects and initiatives across various departments  
  • Own the annual supplier calendar to manage and understand changes that require their understanding.  Help to manage the cadence and clarity of supplier communications.  
  • Be a champion of our ESG goals within the organization and across our supplier community.  Support the implementation of specific ESG initiatives through partnerships with our supplier network. 
  • Be a valued member of your direct team, the BEEP (Business Enablement and Enterprise Procurement) community and the organization overall.   

What skills and qualifications do I need? 

  • Years of proven experience solving problems through process review techniques, clarity of communication and general advocacy/influencing skills 
  • An aspect of this job requires project management skills.  As such, a PMP designation is an asset. 
  • An aspect of this job includes reviewing, evaluating, and mapping our processes and improvement opportunities.  As such, Lean Six Sigma experience is an asset. 
  • An aspect of this job is creating narratives and storylines to deliver key messages for leaders and across the broader team.  Knowledge of PowerPoint and Word is a must with a particular skill in developed cohesive narratives.   
  • Understanding a general data manipulation and analytical capabilities. 
  • Experience in retail, specifically procurement and/or merchandising is an asset
