President’s Choice Children’s Charity (PCCC) is a Canadian registered charity committed to helping kids across Canada live the best life they can. We’re focused on ensuring children are well-fed and ready to learn and have the skills to grow and cook their own food. The Charity believes good food is fundamental to children’s wellbeing and addresses childhood hunger by providing proprietary Power Full Kids programs wherever kids are learning, at school and throughout the summer.

About the 0pportunity

We have the need for a strategic program leader who can continue to shape our Power Full Kids programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior leadership role will work to maintain the charity’s program delivery obligations within the framework of our existing theory of change. This role will also play a key role in the development of our evaluation and impact assessment framework, to inform our programmatic approach. You will gain exposure to multiple functions across all levels of the organization, from your team members to the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Key Accountabilities

  • Shapes program strategies within the charitable mandate of PCCC
  • Designs, implements, and documents workflow processes for application intake and disbursement, risk management and controls, and progress reporting
  • Ensures PCCC maintains direction and control as defined by CRA’s “own charitable activities” test
  • Manages specific programs and operating platforms, including application and review processes, program content delivery, as well as program database.
  • Collaborates with the marketing and fundraising team to source and develop positive and emotional stories that profile our programs
  • Prepares, individually and with other team members, strategy papers, program recommendations, and written and verbal presentations for donors, fundraisers, PCCC leadership and Board
  • Effectively uses project management skills to guide special projects to completion
  • Identifies, conducts due diligence on, and recommends for support of social investments that advance PCCC strategies, like academic research
  • Represents PCCC professionally to external entities
  • Convenes, on occasion, cross-sector collaboratives to achieve PCCC objectives
  • Analyzes program and impact reports to determine progress toward expressed outcomes, and contributes to overall program learning and development
  • Possesses and communicates an in-depth knowledge of the mission, priorities, strategies, goals, and processes of the charity
  • Keeps abreast of and shares information and reports on best practices, current research, data, and trends.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with sector peers and other stakeholders

What You’ll Need

  • post-secondary degree and / or at least five (5) to seven (7) years’ progressive experience with charitable programming, including at least three (3) years’ experience in managing/supervising staff with a demonstrated ability to lead and engage employees. 
  • A track record of holding positions which require strategic critical thinking and demonstrate an imaginative approach to opportunities, issues, and challenges.
  • Experience in project development, development of budgets and work-back plans, project management and negotiation of contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated initiative to take the lead on projects.
  • Experience with process management concepts and best practices, specifically workflow architecture, risk management and controls, and measurements systems
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen well, convey thoughts clearly, speak in public and work as a member of a team.
  • Occasional travel may be required
