Title: Senior Manager, Risk Advisory Services

Location:

Work model: Minimum 3 days in the office per week.

Base office: 1 Presidents Choice Circle, Brampton, Ontario, L6Y 5S5

Travel: Requirement to travel to our various offices in the Greater Toronto Area (including Toronto and North York), from time-to-time, based on project and business needs

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk Advisory, the Senior Manager, Risk Advisory is expected to deliver consistently seamless service to their dedicated internal client base, generating top-quality business-oriented solutions, and building impactful relationships with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders in critical and exciting operational and strategic areas. The Senior Manager will be responsible to help support:

Assurance and Advisory Mandate – supporting the Board and Management by helping to solve critical business issues (advisory) and protect the business as a second set of eyes via targeted projects in high risk/priority areas and “what could go wrong” scenarios (assurance). Enterprise Risk Management Mandate – forward looking program that provides the Board and Management with a complete view of risks our businesses are facing, challenging the quality of management’s mitigations and providing thought leadership on emerging risks.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Relationship and Team Management

  • Proactively develop and own relationships with key stakeholders across the business, and bring that new knowledge back to the group to ensure we are adaptable to changing business needs and adding value in the right direction
  • Stay in tune with emerging issues impacting our businesses, and propose fresh and creative ways to help us and our stakeholders
  • Lead by example as a professional and on-the-project coach for junior team members

Project Management and Core Expectations

  • Simultaneously oversee, drive, and hands-on execute the planning, execution and reporting of multiple high-priority and high-visibility engagements, focusing on governance, risk, controls, and performance improvements
  • Create, oversee and present highly visual, creative, client-focused deliverables and presentations, which connect the dots in a simple and business-oriented way, capturing current and emerging risks, potential issues, opportunities, and mitigating activities which are meaningful and practical for the businesses
  • Champion client specific initiatives to enhance the quality of our service delivery including benchmarking, internal / external research, industry events, thought leadership, relationship building, training and competency development

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

  • 6+ years of experience in business operations such as sales and marketing, merchandising/ procurement, engineering, finance, management consulting, project management, operational internal auditing and/or external audit/advisory (Big 4 firms experience is an asset)
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity effectively developing and leading teams
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • MBA, CPA, PMP, CRM, CIA, CISA or similar designation is a strong asset
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability connect the dots between the business strategy, tactics, risks, and control environment
  • Understanding and knowledge of risk management theory and application, including risk and control design assessments, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting, including knowledge of risk frameworks such as ISO and COSO is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, particularly through the development and delivery of highly visual and impactful presentations
  • Proven problem-solver, with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to think outside the box 
  • Strong work ethic and solutions-based mentality with a focus on delivering results for our stakeholders
  • Passion and exceptional desire to make an impact on the business and community
