Sr. Compensation Specialist

The Sr. Compensation Specialist works closely with the Senior Compensation Managers to provide counsel on the compensation activities for a group of functions or business units. Working within the framework established by the Compensation Sr Director, this individual is responsible for ensuring that compensation programs are consistently designed and delivered in compliance with company policies and government regulations and that individual compensation decisions are made with full knowledge of the situation and impact. The individual will actively partner with the Central Compensation team and other Human Resources functions in order to deliver on compensation priorities.

What You'll Do

  • Provide day-to-day counsel to client groups on all decisions regarding compensation activities
  • With support from Sr. Compensation Managers, present material to business leaders to address future issues and develop plans to mitigate risk or leverage opportunity
  • Manage internal equity and external compensation reviews for all clients from analysis
  • Support the Central Services team with the year-end Annual Increase and STIP cycle to ensure the program is delivered to expectations
  • Establish and maintain benchmark jobs within client groups
  • Managed and participate in benchmark job pricing
  • Work with the Central Services team on the completion of compensation and ad hoc surveys
  • Participate in the job evaluation process as subject matter/function expert
  • Partner Sr. Compensation Managers to complete costing and analysis reports supporting compensation framework and recommendations

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a complex organization, with exposure to designing and/or administering compensation programs to a client group
  • Post-secondary education in the areas of business, human resources, or a related discipline
  • Solid understanding of basic compensation and financial terms and concepts
  • Demonstrated relationship management and ability to get along with all levels of the organization in a client-facing role
  • Highly organized and has a high degree of attention to detail, with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Hay Job Evaluation System and other point rating evaluation systems
  • Proven ability to consolidate and analyze high volumes of moderately complex information and generate basic to intermediate-level observations
  • Exceptional commitment to customer service with a strong sense of urgency
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • A high level of proficiency with MS Excel, and a general level of proficiency with other MS Office applications
  • Strong integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information
  • Compensation Professional (CCP) designations are considered assets
  • Retail industry experience is also an asset
