Why is this role important?

Job summary and mission:

This Role contributes to the success of Loblaw Companies Limited by playing an important role in the design & development of store model layouts that reflect category, banner & corporate strategies. Manager is responsible for managing and supporting multiple project streams and working closely with sr. leadership to develop process, scope, accountabilities and detailed work plans for a variety of store concept initiatives

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Translating complex business strategies into executable initiatives while influencing & managing relationships with sr. leadership and diverse cross functional teams
  • Project scope walk throughs, finalization of project decks that detail (with collaboration): Project scope, important milestones, research to back the project, identifying high & low risk and ways to mitigate, project timeline requirements- final scope alignment & signoff facilitation
  • Project debriefs- after all big projects to review failures & misses & successes – not only from LRE perspective as well as BU- sales impact, profitability, customer feedback etc.
  • Bringing innovation, new ideas & strategies to the for front by working with Business Divisions & strategy teams on new concepts emerging. Research of the industry & new trends through retail insights, competitor tours.
  • Manage continuous process improvement and cross functional collaboration
  • Plan & implement layouts for Major, Minor & seasonal releases, as well as Special Projects as needed.

Project Planning and Execution

  • Coordinate across multiple departments to all ensure all business unit needs are included in capital planning
  • Collaborate with all departments to facilitate the development of designs, requirements & programs to meet the best customer needs
  • Align the strategies & efficiencies of all the different business units under the divisions to move forward with best cohesive projects/rollouts
  • Participate in cross functional initiatives, committees and strategic projects to provide key insights related to LRE
  • Facilitate the management of the overall layout process, managing the communication and tracking of the progression, troubleshooting issues as they arise, straight through to issue resolution.
  • Create standards for layouts to ensure stores optimize productivity, minimize capital, operating costs & enhance customer shopping experience.
  • Set schedules in partnership with Construction and Real Estate. Communicate dates to internal and external team and meets all established deadlines.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary University or College in Commerce, Business Administration, Architectural Technology or related field
  • Self-starter with 3 to 5 years of retail & project management experience
  • Agile and innovative individuals, who can manage in an environment of change & ambiguity to help Loblaw take bold & strategic moves in a rapidly evolving retail environment
  • Demonstrated innovative & strategic thinker- willing to challenge the status quo and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability at building strong internal & external working relationships and superior cross-functional collaboration
  • Energetic individual able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced sometimes-unpredictable environment
  • Proficient with computers with a solid working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
