Sr Manager, Supply Chain – Distribution Automation Systems

Role Profile:

Responsible for the Supply Chain Automation Transformation and execution journey through system design and set up.  Lead the change management journey and transformation from conventional distribution operation to full automation while considering impacts on systems, infrastructure, people, process and efficiency.  Support the selection and utilizations of technology, systems and tools while providing guidance to the build, design, and operations teams to drive efficiency and optimization.  Define process and direction for operations, design, and maintenance teams and manage the expectations of the assigned initiatives/technology.  Benchmark against Industry and world leaders.  Manage and support warehouse, transport, replenishment, and logistics operational impact to enable skillful execution of supply chain functions by enhancing the system design and set up.  Focus on rigor on continuous improvement, stable execution, and innovation

Responsibilities:

  • Support vision, strategy, framework, implementation and execution plans for Supply Chain Automation System Journey
  • Work closely and in synch with on-site third-party repair and maintenance teams while holding them accountable to business expectations and established SLAs
  • Become a subject matter expert on everything automation within the enterprise operating sites 
  • Integrate efforts with other areas of Supply Chain in all work pursued
  • Benchmark across industries, to assess, explore and roll out new and emerging technology applications and techniques
  • Emphasis on colleague experience and enabling capabilities and tools that drive efficiencies, simplicity, and autonomy
  • Establishing governance over assigned programs, ensuring cohesive automation logic, programming knowledge, support mechanisms, tools and vendor development process both during build and post implementation
  • Ensures the rapid development and deployment of enhancements and site deployments
  • Development of solutions and supporting systems and enhancements which include research, develop, build, execute as required by the business to achieve operational goals
  • Partnership and collaboration with vendors and IT with set expectations, communication cadence and decision-making procedures through open and honest two-way conversation
  • Build and support with IT system architects the foundation to support the strategy and vision
  • Establish an infrastructure and development strategy for Automation and innovation in the work streams
  • Continuous innovation towards new automation and solutions for core supply chain operations including enhancements, troubleshooting, and unique solutions that may need to be built from scratch
  • Lead, onboard, and support the deployment of new system and technology as it pertains to the vision and strategy ie: AGV’s, automation, robotics, optical recognition.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a supply chain or retail organization with 3-5 years of direct distribution operational experience or indirect support of distribution operations
  • 5 – 7 years’ Supervisory/Management experience
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong leadership skills with a professional attitude
  • Ability to persuade, influence and/or negotiate with contacts inside and outside an organization
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment
  • Experience in automation or manufacturing
