The Loblaw Supply Chain team is the heart of our business and is committed to making customers our number one priority. With the aid of world class systems, we ensure our product – nearly 1billion units of it – makes its way from one of our 3,000 vendors, through one of our 27 distribution centers, to one of our 2,300 locations across Canada, and into the homes of millions of Canadians each year.

The Candidate:

Are you a self-starter with a passion for building applications? The candidate should have a high work-ethic with a focus to ensure that projects achieve desired outcomes. Candidates should be team-oriented and have the fortitude to overcome challenges and obstacles.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for developing applications and automation models required by the business
  • Provide implementation support during warranty periods through systems projects
  • Participate in key roles in multiple system projects towards ensuring that the functional design and delivery solutions meet business requirements
  • Work with operational subject matter experts (SME’s) to document system/application user stories and communicate requirements to IT and Vendor partners across multiple projects
  • Familiarity with Agile software delivery methodology
  • Facilitate Scrum team activities
  • Application Testing:
    • Overlooking the testing of the Required Features
    • Responsible for crafting the Test plans / Test scenarios
    • Responsible for performing test (eg Load, Performance, Design testing)
    • Responsible for resolving issues faced by users
  • Product Lifecycle:
    • Pushing the application packages from lower to higher environment
    • Maintaining environment sync for DB scripts & plugins
    • Working with the Control Tower / System Admin team to manage issues during transport
    • Reviewing the health check along with the System Admin after code push
    • Responsible for ensuring the best practices are maintained during the development lifecycle
    • Crafting Job Aids, Process diagrams, Architecture and Functional Design documentation
  • Create incident tickets for issue resolution; ensure incidents are raised and addressed within agreed time frames and SLAs; provide status updates to stakeholders
  • Work with IT, Vendor Partners and data teams as the need arises to resolve system issues
  • Facilitate status updates with user groups and management on issue status, system availabilities, system changes and training needs
  • Process and track change requests and defects that are received
  • Assist Learning & Development to craft training materials and deliver training or provide support to SME’s and/or end users including individual coaching

Experience:

  • University or College degree in a Technical Field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc.)
  • Background in logical data modeling
  • Problem solving and design skills
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • ERP systems (Kronos, Manhattan, JDA and TMS) and Supply Chain operational knowledge are an asset
  • Background in User Experience
  • Previous experience working with HTML, CSS, SQL is a benefit
  • Experience with Java, C or other common languages
  • Familiarity with planning, designing, testing, and deploying enterprise software applications, the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
