Teradata Data Engineer, Brampton, ON

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer, with experience in building data pipelines and providing accurate, easy-to-use, and timely data solutions to support analysis of Retail and Health data across Enterprise. You will be a key contributor to the development of our data platform that powers our Data Analytics and AI capabilities, reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Platform Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for providing guidance and technical leadership to junior data platform engineers. We are looking for smart, nice, and curious team members to help bring our Data & Analytics game to the next level. This is an exciting time to join our team – We are changing the game in a big way! 

What You’ll Do:

  • Extract and transform data from various source systems datasets to Enterprise Data warehouse/Cloud for data cleaning, migration, data profiling, and analysis.
  • Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve business processes, data architecture and documentation, and reporting efficiency
  • Generate reports using ad-hoc queries or using BI Tools like MicroStrategy or Qlik
  • Extract, review and prepare data for analysis & reporting using SQL and/or Python.
  • Mentor and cross-train other data engineers.
  • Provide support to Data Governance initiatives such as data quality, data lineage, and metadata management, and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions.

What You'll Bring:  

  • Experience with SQL for data mining, extraction, and preparation.
    Experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Information Systems is helpful.
  • Solid experience in utilizing advanced data extraction ETL and manipulation tools.
  • Solid experience in data mining and large relational databases like Teradata or Big Query.
  • Excellent business relationship, communication, and verbal skills
  • Hands-on experience with Teradata Utilities and data modeling and presentation layer and BI reporting tools.
  • Experience with cloud data visualization and DataLake Technologies is an asset
