Data Scientist, Brampton, ON

Reporting to the Sr. Data Science the role will have the opportunity to lead and assist in solutioning some outstanding projects and enterprise-wide analytical initiatives, with a focus on pricing markdown optimization. We are growing our customer focus, using our outstanding insights through a consultative approach with internal and external partners. You will get a sense of the big picture here, and a chance to make valuable contributions to very complex projects.

Duties:

  • Develop functional prototypes, productionalize, and operate analytical applications
  • Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases, selecting appropriate datasets and data representation methods
  • Build machine learning models and perform advanced statistical analysis, fine-tuning using test and experiment results
  • Present findings throughout application development process
  • Manage customer interaction and translating business requirements into mathematical formulation
  • Work with colleagues across Category, Product, Sales & Marketing and Operations teams, on cross functional projects and initiatives
  • Actively identify and implement initiatives to improve data extraction, data preparation and data modelling processes
  • Rigorously adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to confidential information

What you Bring:

  • A great teammate, self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • 2-3 yrs of Data Science, Machine Learning or related experience in modelling business processes. Deep knowledge in math, probability, statistics and algorithms
  • Strong programming skills with Python, Pyspark, Scala or R. Proficient with machine learning frameworks and libraries
  • Advanced knowledge in SQL (eg. MS SQL, Unix, Linux, IBM Netezza, IBM DB2, Teradata)
  • Experience using collaborative coding and version control: git, visual code studio
  • Superb analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of data structures, data modelling and software architecture
  • Experience with distributed processing platforms is an asset
