Data Scientist, Brampton, ON

Loblaw's Process and Efficiency team is looking for a Data Scientist with experience in applied research and problem solving. In the role the you will conduct analyses and develop impactful models to help solve a wide variety of data science problems.

The Data Scientist will have experience with identifying needs, crafting process improvement solutions, and maintaining collaborative relationships with business partners. This is a hands-on role and requires applying analytical techniques to tackle real problems and see them into production bringing business value.

What You'll Do:

• Partner with various business units with a focus on enterprise-wide process improvements and efficiency savings driven by data science products and services.
• Work collaboratively and optimally in cross-functional teams. With enhanced team cohesion, increased internal adoption of test design, statistical measurement and sophisticated analytics methodologies
• Stay on track to project timelines, scope and other commitments to build trust as a reliable business partner
• Adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information

What You Bring

• Hands on experience with Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or other relevant fields.
• Proven experience with quantitative analysis with validated results
• Experience in SQL and Python. Experience working in cloud environments, GCP preferred.
• Experience in analytical roles working with large data sets and analytic tools, and some subset of the following: scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch.
• Good understanding of Natural Language Processing and/or Computer Vision. Experience in software engineering is a must.
• Essentials for this role: Critical thinking, problem-solving, storytelling skills, dedication, multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment, and strong detail orientation
• An excellent teammate and self-starter – this role is a hybrid location, meaning you will work efficiently remotely but can meet your team and business clients as needed in-person in an office environment to collaborate for maximum speed-of-delivery and effectiveness
