The following outlines the job description of the Senior Systems Analyst role as pertains to Supply Chain development at Canadian Tire. This job description applies to development and support on an IBM Mainframe platform with a z/OS operating system.

Position Title: Senior Systems Analyst

Department: Technology Retail Ops Delivery, Supply Chain Distribution

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary objective of the programmer analyst is to develop mainframe solutions which support the business operating model of Supply Chain at CTC. The successful candidate will work in an agile project environment to deliver modifications and net new solutions which support CTC’s expansion of distribution center capacity. Part of this role entails 7*24 pager support to ensure the stability of solutions implemented to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement solutions to support CTC’S supply chain agenda.
2. Provide off-hours 24*7 support for implemented solutions during a specified warranty period.
3. Report progress on code development daily to the project manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have:

• Five to ten years’ experience in an IBM mainframe environment with a z/OS operating system. This entails a good working knowledge of TSO/SPF and associated utilities.
• JCL scripting skills.
• The ability to use FileAid, SUPFI and other DB tools.
• Structured programming skills with PL/1.
• A good working knowledge of IMS and DB2. Includes online transactions and batch (BMP) processing.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills required to trace issues end to end.
• The ability to carry forward tasks with minimal supervision.
• Good verbal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in written English.
• The ability to collaborate and share ideas in a team environment.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• The ability to provide off-hours support as required.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of support tools Abend-Aid and ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of JES2 and MVS.
• Experience working with SAS.

• Basic knowledge of a job scheduling tool (e.g. ESP).

• Experience in a retail business environment, preferably CTC’s retail business environment.
