Logistics Specialist


We’re looking for an experienced Logistics Specialist! If you’re a certified Customs Specialist or Trade Compliance Specialist with experience in and trade compliance regulations (Canada and USA), this may be the role for you!


You will also be involved with conducting security requirements and risk assessment regarding the Partners in Protection (PIP) program in order to maintain Canon Canada’s certification.  You analytical abilities will assist with conducting audits in order to ensure Canon Canada’s import/export activities comply with all Canadian import/export regulations.  

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain an accurate Customs tariff classification database for products to be imported into Canada: Organize and maintain files including rulings and product literature
  • Ensure the correct Canon Canada and/or Canon USA trade compliance policies are followed and applied to each export, while meeting government regulations and geopolitical considerations
  • Perform audits of import / export activities (including record keeping), and research Import and Export regulations to ensure all activities comply with import/export regulations in Canada
  • Perform export operations (prepare customs documents, arrange carriers, etc.), while adhering to the rules and regulations of government and Canon export Policy
  • Perform annual reviews for the Partners In Protection (PIP) program in order to maintain Canon Canada’s standing in the program which allows for expedited international importing/exporting
  • Create of logistics reports for customs, imports, and exports
  • Submit insurance claims for international and domestic transportation
  • Create and re-evaluate flowcharts and SOPs for the logistics department

What We’re Looking For

  • Post-Secondary Education in Customs and Transportation or Supply Chain
  • Certified Customs Specialist designation or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist
  • 5-8 years of related experience 
  • Strong analytical skills are required to assess information regarding exports and apply correct policies to ensure shipments meet government regulations
  • Refined time management/multi-tasking skills are required to ensure export orders are completed and get equipment to other companies, meet customs timelines, and balance multiple shipments.
  • Intermediate project/process management skills are required to apply and follow correct processes
  • Intermediate computer/technical skills are required use Vlookups and Pivot tables in Excel and the rest of MS Office
  • French is an asset
