Senior Analyst, Training

Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Training is responsible for promoting and supporting a culture of learning at CN by creating training content to support its Smart Terminal Program (STP). Working as part of CN’s Multimodal Innovation and Optimization, the position designs training material, delivers training program, and ensures successful training rollout across multiple terminals. The role performs specific tasks, which include developing content for training design, delivery, and sustainment.

Main Responsibilities

Lead Training Assessment and Content Creation 

·       Design, create, and deliver engaging learning experiences that improve business outcomes

·       Support identification of training audience and understand impacted roles and responsibilities

·       Determine volume of training user profiles

·       Research training documentation available from vendors

·       Review training guides, develop customized training modules, and ensure appropriate training documentation

·       Provide technical writing as well as Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to stakeholders

·       Communicate training modules to instructors such as Train-the-Trainers

·       Develop training content for multiple training channels, web-based versus in-class

·       Support successful delivery and roll out of training

·       Identify, collect, synthesize, and maintain knowledge and assets into central knowledge repository

·       Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness and make recommendations on program design content

·       Develop and report on training metrics, looking for continuous improvement opportunities

·       Maintain current knowledge of training trends, best practices, tools, and technologies related to training design, delivery, and sustainment

Support Change Management and Communication 

·       Support the execution of change management initiatives throughout the STP deployment

·       Assist with identification of stakeholders and carry out research and analyses to understand how change impacts them

·       Conduct stakeholder assessments and develop appropriate communication content for the target audience

·       Ensure timely and effective communication throughout change management process

·       Conduct change impact assessments, carry out surveys, and solicit feedback on change awareness

·       Support adoption of STP across terminals

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires occasional travel (up to 25%) to various North American terminals. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.




·       Between 3 to 7 years of experience in supporting training programs in large transformation initiatives

o   Experience in supply chain operations and transportation

o   Experience in providing training in a unionized workforce and management

o   Experience in project, change management, and process improvement*

o   Experience in technology transformation programs*

· Adult Education or Training Certifications such as Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) and Certified Training Practitioner (CTP)*
