Electrical Engineering Specialist – Radar

Role Summary
  • Act as primary technical specialist for all electrical engineering-related concerns and offers expertise to the product teams as appropriate
  • Develop design, analysis and testing guides for automotive radar electronics
  • Evaluate customer specifications and translation into designs
  • Evaluate internal and external engineering design change requests
  • Market analysis of new technologies and technology trends e.g. new automotive Radar chips
  • Participate in electrical design reviews and ensures best practices are followed
  • Represent Magna Electronics in industry groups such as IEEE or SAE
Key Responsibilities

 

  • Deep knowledge in
    • using different design tools (e.g. Altium Designer, PSPICE, and others)
    • working with requirements management tools such as DOORS and PTC Integrity
    • FMEA methods and tools (such as APIS IQ FMEA) 
    • Worst Case Circuit Analysis in Mathcad or Excel
    • automotive development processes
    • trouble shooting methods and circuit testing
    • structured problem-solving techniques like 8D
    • regulations and standards of the automotive industry such as AEC-Q and ISO 26262
    • oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and RF signal generators
    • Automotive radar systems and the associated regulations such as ETSI compliance
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design of radars, preferably in automotive industry
  • Strong knowledge in interpreting data sheets of complex automotive ICs
  • Strong understanding of analog circuits and digital high-speed designs such as MMICs and DDR-Memory
    • interfaces and busses like CAN-FD, Multimode Ethernet, LVDS and others
    • knowledge in inter-processor communication techniques and their parameters like bandwidth
    • MMIC evaluation and selection
  • Experience in designing and evaluating complex PCBs for automotive radar applications
  • Excellent understanding of electrical and system architectures for radar applications
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Ability to travel to both domestic and international locations
  • Good English and German skills are essential
  • Driver license class B
