Occupational Safety Specialist – Remote Camp – Timmins, ON


This is a Contract position in Brampton, on posted May 11, 2022.

Job DescriptionWe are searching for a Health and Safety Specialist, that can build solid internal relationships with local Operations Team in efforts to gain support for our safety programs.The H & S Specialist trains Aramark Directors, Managers and Supervisors to investigate safety incidents and events, perform root cause analyses, and devises permanent corrective action plans for Safety Incident Reports.

Oversees the preparation of these reports and monitors implementation of corrective action plans.The H & S Specialist compiles safety budgets and tracks expenditures and variances, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continuously improve Safety, Quality, Cost, Responsiveness, People and Environment (SQCRPE).When you are in camp, you work each day for 14 days straight.

Your workdays are typically 10 12 hours.

The nice part is all your meals and private accommodations are provided for you, free of charge.

Each work cycle, you will travel from your hometown to the nearest airport to the camp, and from there, take a bus to the camp site.

This cost is covered by the company.

When it’s time to go home, the same process happens in reverse.Job ResponsibilitiesDeveloped and/or modify safety policies and programsEnsure participation and alignment with site safety programs.Establish goals/strategies and measurements for stationAnalyze results and benchmark dataMinimize liability exposuresDevelop necessary training programs for safety leaders and service workersInitial point of contact for any safety incidentParticipate in all Board of Inquiries for safety incidentsPrepare and distribute results/findings to internal and external customersConduct audits and inspectionsDraft and distribute monthly safety bulletinDetermine trends and create corrective action programsQualificationsMinimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience as Safety Expert, specializing in Environmental HygieneBackground must include experience working in the remote camps or mining, Safety Program responsibility with proven results, and a thorough knowledge of OHSA, applicable safety regulations and standards, and workers compensationStrong organization, leadership, time management and team motivation skills are essential for success in this roleMust be comfortable with frequent computer usage and a good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications is requiredApplicable safety certifications Vaccination requirement:
