Logistics (Yard Operations) Manager

This is a Full-time position in Brampton, ON posted August 18, 2019.

We’re looking for a highly organized manager to join the team at our Brampton production facility Overview The Logistics Manager (LM) is responsible to manage all aspects of production support operations outside the plant including, the Yard Logistics , Batch Plant operations, Stores , Hardware and Dry Finish departments to support Production and Field Construction operations.

This position provides leadership and direction in loading and unloading techniques, receiving procedures, yard organization, inventory handling and control, vehicle maintenance and the promotion of a safe working environment.

Ensure training, communication, and initiatives are effectively communicated to plant employees, evaluated and recommendations from JHSC acted on.

Management and optimization of overall production process, producing quality precast meeting CPCI/CSA standards in accordance with project specification and contract schedule.

Create and maintain a safe plant environment with tools, machinery and equipment in good working order.

Production material, labour and overhead costs within budgeted amounts.

Support Production Supervisors in resolution of issues related to safety, quality, production priorities, material and man-hour allocations to meet designated targets and KPI’s.

Liaise closely with the Quality department and conduct regular inspection of the work in progress for finished goods to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Manage manpower requirements in consultation with Production Supervisors in order to maximize usage and minimize disruption to the labour force while meeting contractual obligations.

Identify and recommend physical and/or process changes as needed to ensure the most productive and efficient means to meet both financial and production deadlines.

Utilize lean management principles to review and analyze actual production processes in comparison to initial production plan/budget to recommend changes for future bids & projects.

Be conversant with the current wording and interpretation of the collective agreement to enable clear and consistent direction to be given.

What we’re looking for A Great Attitude Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.

5 years experience of 5 years of experience in Yard & Logistics operations.

Results-oriented
– ‘get it done’ attitude.

Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple production projects at the same time.

Working knowledge of cranes, shuttle lifts, mobile equipment (forklift, frontend loader, etc.) slings, chains.

Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Previous experience successfully managing in a unionized/labour environment.

Solid understanding of technical drawings and architectural design.

Effective communication skills (written & verbal) with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.

Standard office computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) etc.

Basic knowledge or awareness of Lean manufacturing concepts Must be physically fit to perform work, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy loads.

Valid Drivers’ License.

Assets Experience in pre-cast concrete production.

Some exposure to logistics
– transportation operations.
